Does naming a person an Executor in a Will automatically make them an Executor of the Estate?

No. A reference in a person's will to the person(s) they want to be named executor of their estate is not enough to make the person the executor. They need to petition the Court to be appointed executor of the estate generally through Letters Testamentary (can have a different name in different jurisdictions).
